For file upload assignments, there are some restrictions on what files learners are allowed to upload.
File Types
The following file types are permitted in file upload submissions in Subject:
Text Documents (.pdf, .docx, .doc)
Images (.jpg, .jpeg, .png)
Audio (.mp3, .wav)
Video (.mp4, .mov, .webm)
File Sizes
The maximum file size you're allowed to upload is 50MB. Trying to upload a file larger than 50MB will result in an error. If your file is too large and you're unable to submit, please reach out to [email protected].
File Names
If the file is over 15 characters long, the uploader will crash and not be able to upload your pdf. You should try renaming your downloaded files to something descriptive like "Bio 5.2 A3" This also helps you not accidentally upload the wrong file or blank files.
Uploading multiple files
If an assignment asks you to upload multiple files in a Music Production or a Language class, you'll need to upload both files at the same time. You'll need to complete the following steps in order to get both files to successfully upload.
Organize your files on your desktop so that you can highlight both files at the same time. We recommend making a designated folder for this step.
Minimize the Subject screen so that you see your files and the upload box.
Drag the highlighted files into the upload box.
The Upload box should populate with the 2 images, if the file formats are accepted.
Uploading Hand-Written Work
We understand that students might prefer completing work offline but in order to submit it, you'll need to upload your files to the site. You'll need to complete the following steps in order to submit pictures of your hand-written work.
There are 2 main issues that students run into: file type and file size. Phones will sometimes save as HEIC or BMP files, which are not compatible with our uploader. You can check if this is the case by looking at the last few letters on the file name. Please use https://www.freeconvert.com/png-converter to convert those files to PNGs.
If you are uploading more than 3 images, you'll want to convert it to a PDF instead. Use https://smallpdf.com/pdf-converter to convert it.
If you are unable to combine your work into one file, please reach out to [email protected].
