The new Homework Helper feature provides you with 24/7 academic assistance when they need it most!

  • Ask questions and build a deeper understanding of assignments and topics through guided practice

Guide to Using Spark Homework Helper

1. Accessing Spark Homework Helper

  • Enter any course as a learner

  • Look for the Spark Pencil icon on Assignments and CFUs indicating help is available.

2. Initiating Help Request

  • Click on the Spark icon when needing assistance with an assignment.

  • Choose between "Homework help" or "I need help with something else."

    • “I need help with something else” guides you to Intercom/Live Chat

3. Homework Help Options

  • Select "Homework help" to engage with Spark for assistance.

  • Note that currently, only questions without images in the question or answer choices are supported.

4. Interacting with Spark

  • Engage with Spark by asking for help with specific questions.

  • Spark will guide you through the question gently and sympathetically.

  • Please note that all conversations had with Spark are recorded, and accessible by teachers to view.

5. Continued Assistance

  • You can ask for help with multiple questions in the same session.

  • Students ask questions and are guided in the Socratic style to learn at their pace

  • Helps students build deeper understanding through guided practice

  • You have full visibility into student conversations to monitor progress and understanding

How to access Spark conversation logs

  1. Navigate to the “Performance” section in the lefthand menu

  2. Click the “Homework Helper” tab

    1. There you’ll be able to access student interaction logs to identify knowledge gaps and tailor your teaching to each student.
