Integration type: Hybrid (SSO + Manual Enrollment Management)
Schools on a Hybrid integration use SSO for login only — user accounts sync from your SIS. Enrollments are still managed manually in Subject. Teachers and admins enroll students in courses directly through the Roster page, the same way Manual integration schools do.
Enrolling a Single Student
The student must already have an account in Subject (synced from your SIS) before you can enroll them.
Navigate to Roster from the left-hand menu.
Find and click on the student you want to enroll.
Click the +Add Enrollment button in their profile.
Select the Course and Section.
Click +Add Enrollment inside the window to confirm. This step is required or the enrollment will not be saved.
Click Save Changes.
You can add multiple enrollments in the same window by repeating steps 4-5.
Bulk Enrolling Multiple Students
Go to Roster and select a specific section in the dropdown.
Check the boxes next to the students you want to enroll, or use Select All.
The option to enroll all selected students will appear.
Choose the course and confirm.
What If the Student Is Not in Your Roster?
Since Hybrid schools sync accounts from your SIS, a student must be shared with Subject in the SIS before they appear on your Roster. Note: a student being able to log into Clever or ClassLink (or seeing the Subject app tile there) is not the same as being shared with Subject in the SIS — SSO providers only handle login, not rostering, so app access alone doesn't guarantee the student will appear on your Roster.
Verify the student is in your SIS and assigned to the correct school.
SIS syncs may take time. Wait and check again.
Contact your district admin or IT department if the student still does not appear.
Important Notes
You must click +Add Enrollment after selecting course and section. Just selecting from the dropdowns does not save it.
Enrolling a student in Subject does not update your SIS since there is no automated enrollment sync. Manage SIS records separately.
Subject Support cannot enroll students without teacher permission.
To move a student to a different section, use Move Enrollment in the Roster.
