Score Based Progression: Enrollment Level Settings
Subject now allows educators to set Score Based Progression at the enrollment level, giving you greater flexibility in how individual students progress through their courses.
What is Score Based Progression?
Score Based Progression is a setting that requires students to achieve a passing score on an end-of-topic quiz before advancing to the next topic. This ensures students demonstrate a solid understanding of the material before moving forward in their course.
What's New?
Previously, Score Based Progression could only be configured at the School or Section level. With this update, educators can now apply it at the enrollment level which means you can customize the setting for a specific student's individual course enrollment.
Like other Subject features such as Pacing and Locking, the most specific level always takes priority. For example, if Score Based Progression is turned off for a Section, but an educator enables it for a specific student's enrollment, the enrollment-level setting will take priority for that student.
Enrollment Level vs. Student Level
It's important to note that this setting applies at the enrollment level, not the student level. This means:
A student enrolled in two courses can have Score Based Progression turned on for one course and off for another.
Changes made apply only to that specific course enrollment, not to the student across all courses.
This is designed to give educators maximum flexibility and control over how students progress.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I see a student's current setting?
A banner will appear in the student's enrollment row indicating whether Score Based Progression is toggled On or Off. If it's on, the banner will also display the current passing threshold.
Rollout Details
When this feature is first released, all students will automatically inherit their Section's Score Based Progression settings. No disruption to existing configurations will occur. From there, educators can begin making adjustments at the enrollment level as needed.
Do Sequential Learning and Diagnostic Bypass have enrollment-level settings too? Not at this time. Enrollment-level settings are currently available for Score Based Progression only.
