Integration type: Full (Rostering and Enrollment Automation via SIS)
Schools on a Full integration have their SIS connected to Subject. All enrollments are managed through the SIS and synced automatically. You cannot enroll students directly in Subject. All enrollments must go through the SIS.
How Students Get Enrolled
A district admin or IT staff enrolls the student in the Subject course within the SIS.
The enrollment automatically syncs to Subject (typically within hours).
The student logs in via SSO and sees their course immediately.
No manual steps are needed in Subject.
Why Can I Not Enroll Students in Subject?
The SIS is the single source of truth. Direct enrollment editing is disabled to ensure consistency:
The +Add Enrollment button is not available.
Educators cannot add, remove, or modify enrollments in Subject.
Subject Support cannot manually enroll students for fully integrated schools.
A banner on the Roster page will confirm that enrollments are managed externally.
Who to Contact
To enroll a student, ask your district admin or IT department to:
Enroll the student in the correct Subject course in the SIS (using the mapped course code).
Confirm the enrollment has synced to Subject.
You can also contact [email protected] for enrollment issues related to your integration.
If a Student Says They Are Not Enrolled
Subject Support cannot enroll students without teacher permission. The student should contact their teacher or counselor, who should then ask the district admin to add the enrollment in the SIS.
Important Notes
If grade passback is configured, grades begin syncing as soon as the enrollment is active.
Enrollment changes or removals must also go through the SIS.
If an enrollment was removed by mistake, contact your district admin. Previous progress can be restored upon request.
